Still I Rise You may write me down in history With your bitter, twisted lies, You may trod me in the very dirt But still, like dust, I'll rise. Does my sassiness upset you? Why are you beset with gloom? 'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells Pumping in my living room. Just like moons and like suns, With the certainty of tides, Just like hopes springing high, Still I'll rise. Did you want to see me broken? Bowed head and lowered eyes? ABOUT ME
I just turned 50 in June this year...wow...a half century...right now I'm just reflecting on my life...seeking God's purpose for my life...I've spent most of my life...raising my children...going to school...getting the education society says will change my life...it did to a point...but here I am after going to school for the last 20 years...completing a bachelor's degree and 2 masters degrees and wondering now what...where's the great job I'm supposed to get...am I now too old...that's not what I read...but the rejections...are making me feel otherwise...I wish I had made wiser decisions when I was younger but hey that's life...anyway I've decided to have the courage to pursue the secret yearning I've had to see if people were telling the truth when they said I have " a way with words" ...I like to write...helps with stress sometimes...I love this place...maybe here I can gain the courage to truly be me...a lot of the writings I share here are from a time in my life when I felt alone, lost, longing for true love...my soulmate found me so I'm no longer longing but I'd still like to share the emotions I experienced during that time...Hope you enjoy it...peace
